An Eames inspired space age white chair, DAW dining armchair.
Eames inspired DAR armchair, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1948, known as the DAR (Dining Armchair Rod Base). The inspiration for the design came from the famous New York Museum of Modern Art competition, ‘Low Cost Furniture Design’ where the plastic armchairs were first presented.
The organically shaped fibreglass and reinforced plastic seat shells were later combined with various different bases.
In creating the design, Eames made effective use of groundbreaking processes and new materials and in the 1950’s it went on to be the first mass produced plastic chair. It remains to this day an iconic piece that defines an era yet still remains timeless.
